4 easy steps to get your website online
So you already have a website coded, filled with content and all that stuff or you want to develop a completely new website and get it online? Here’s what you’ve got to do in 4 easy steps:
1. Find a domain name
Before you buy a webspace, you should make up your mind which domain name you’d like to use. After you have decided, go and check if it’s still available, maybe someone had that great idea before. But don’t be frustrated if it doesn’t work at the first try – there surely is the perfect domain available just for you!
You can now either register your domain directly or wait until you order the webspace belonging to it. Many web hosting companies provide domain registration and it’s probably more convenient for you to do this in one turn.
2. Find a Web Hosting Agency
Ok, so the first step is done. Now you have the agony of choice which web hosting company to choose. The decision can be very hard, as there are maybe thousands of web hosts out there just waiting for your money. I won’t give you a list of providers at this point, but maybe this post is going to give you a good hint: Important criteria for renting a webspace.
3. Rent a webspace
So you’ve found a reliable provider? That’s just fine, so now choose the right package, pay the fees and wait for your login details.
4. Upload your files
The final step is to get your files on the web. Therefore you’re going to need a FTP-Client – there are several freeware tools online – just look it up in your favourite search engine. With the login information you’ve got from your web hosting provider you can easily connect to your webspace and upload your files from your PC.
Congrats, you’re finished. Have fun with your new website!
